SH 1-2

Our class is fast and punctual; students get along well with each other, speak up in class, are helpful and caring, work hard, think and act on their own, and trust each other. Here's a glimpse into our day-to-day learning!

BIOLOGY

In biology class, we've studied cells and DNA so far. The teacher takes a lot of time to explain concepts that are difficult to understand, and we work in groups to solve problems and do experiments together. There is also time to summarize the content on worksheets, which is useful for reviewing and preparing for future tests.

生物の授業では、これまで細胞とDNAについて勉強してきました。理解しにくい概念については先生が時間をかけて説明してくださり、グループに分かれて一緒に問題を解いたり、実験をしたりしています。ワークシートに内容をまとめる時間もあるので、復習や今後のテスト対策にも役立ちます。

英語の授業では、文法や読解問題に加えて、教科書のトピックについて議論したり、雑誌の記事を書いたりと多様な授業が行われています。また、毎週10分間の読書時間が与えられ、生徒のレベルにあった本を読む穏やかな時間となっています。スピーキングやライティングのスキルも充実しており、将来に活かせるものが多いです。

ENGLISH

In addition to grammar and reading comprehension questions, English classes are diverse, with students discussing textbook topics and writing magazine articles. Students are also given 10 minutes of reading time each week, which is a peaceful time to read books at their level. Speaking and writing skills are also well developed, and can be used in the future.

GLOBAL ISSUES

The Global Issues subject is unique to this school. We mainly focus on group work and exchange ideas on topics such as "When is an emotional moment?" and "What does it mean to be successful?" There is always a lot of excitement about these topics because they are not usually touched upon, but we feel that they allow us to acquire knowledge and broaden our perspectives.

「グローバルイシュー」という本校独自の科目があります。主にグループワークを中心に、"感動するのはどんな時か？"や "成功するとはどういうことか？"などのテーマで意見交換をしています。授業中はいつも盛り上がりがあり、普段はあまり触れられていないことだからこそ、知識を身につけたり、視野を広げたりすることができます。

今の現代社会の授業では、私たち学生は「どうしたら生徒の学習意欲を高める授業ができるのか」と考え、教師の立場から授業をリードしています。また、SDGsやBlack Lives Matterに関連した活動も行っています。毎週、SDGsの視点で新聞記事を見て、ネガティブな部分とポジティブな部分を考えたり、哲学者の考えを表現したポスターを作成したりしています。

CONTEMPORARY SOCIETY

Now, in contemporary society classes, we teach from the teacher's point of view, thinking, "How can we teach a lesson that will motivate students to learn? " We have also been involved in activities related to SDGs and Black Lives Matter. Each week, we look at a newspaper article from the perspective of the SDGs and think about the negative and positive aspects and create posters expressing philosophers' ideas.

MATH 1 / A

Our math class has been learning triangle ratios and functions. The classes are conducted in English, which is hard because you need to understand the math itself and English language skills. However, the teacher provides games and teaches the logic of math to make it easy to understand, so learning in a different language isn't too much of a struggle. The teacher is hilarious and playful, so the class is always filled with laughter, making it a great place to learn.

数学の授業では、三角形の比と関数を学習しています。授業は英語で行われるので、数学自体の理解力と英語力が必要なので大変です。しかし、先生がゲームを用意してくれたり、数学の理屈をわかりやすく教えてくれるので、違う言語での学習も苦になりません。先生は陽気で遊び心のある方なので、授業中はいつも笑いが絶えないので、勉強するにはもってこいの場所です。

ITの授業では、パソコンを使って様々な編集ソフトを使ってポスターや動画を作成しました。また、Googleスプレッドシートを使った例題で数値データのまとめ方や分析の仕方を学びます。最初は何を書けばいいのかわからず、先生がやろうとしていることを真似するだけでしたが、徐々に慣れてきて、今では楽にできるようになりました。このスキルは社会人になったら必須のスキルになるので、学校ではこのような機会があることに感謝しています。

INFORMATION STUDY

In IT class, we used computers to create posters and videos using a variety of editing software. We also learn how to compile and analyze numerical data through examples using Google Sheets. At first, we didn't know what to write and just tried to copy what the teacher was trying to do, but we gradually got used to the process, and now we can do it with ease. This skill will be essential when we become members of society, so we are grateful to have this kind of opportunity at school.

HEALTH

In health class, we learned about addiction and mental and physical health. Much of what we learn is deeply relevant in our lives, such as reducing stress and saying no to tobacco and drugs. The teacher is friendly, and she works with us and consider the questions that come to mind and makes it easy for us to speak up. We also did "Johari's Window" and alcohol patch tests, and you can see by coming to this school that health is not just a rote subject.

健康の授業では、依存症や心身の健康について学びました。ストレスを減らしたり、タバコやドラッグを断ったりと、私たちの生活に深く関係することを学びました。先生は気さくな方で、心に浮かんだ疑問を一緒に考えてくれて、私たちが発言しやすいようにしてくれます。「ジョハリの窓」やアルコールパッチテストも行いましたが、健康はただの暗記科目ではないことが、この学校に来ることでわかります。

この学校の世界史の授業はちょっと特殊で、先生が言ったことをただノートに書くのではなく、生徒自身が授業をしています。グループに分かれてゲームやクイズなどで他の生徒に教科書の内容を教え、ノートを取るべきところを重点的に教えています。生徒が先生になり、先生が生徒になることで、自分たちの教科に詳しくなり、他の生徒に説明することで、より学びが深まります。先生は意欲的で、生徒の意見を真摯に受け止めてくれますし、話すことが上手なので、わからないことがあれば気軽に聞けるようになっています。

WORLD HISTORY

The world history class in our school is a bit special, and instead of just writing notes on what the teacher says, the students teach the class themselves. We work in groups to teach the textbook to other students through games and quizzes, and we emphasize what they need to take notes on. As the students become the teacher, we become more familiar with the subject matter and learn more by explaining it to others. Our teacher is motivated and takes the students' opinions seriously, and he is conversational, so if there is something you don't understand, you can easily ask him for help.

INTEGRATED JAPANESE

We never get bored with Japanese class because of its diversity. In one case, we read an ancient Japanese story and presented "still pictures" and "group readings" to understand the characters' emotions. At other times, we would use Google Jamboard to organize the content and write a report. Grammar and vocabulary are kept to a minimum, and the class is more focused on the content and the discussion based on it. Therefore, we think that even if you are not good at Japanese, you can enjoy learning it.

国語の授業は多様性があるので、飽きることがありません。ある時は、古文を読み、「静止画」や「群読」を提示して登場人物の心情を理解しました。あるときは、グーグルジャムボードを使って内容を整理し、レポートを書くこともありました。文法や語彙は最小限に抑え、内容とそれに基づいたディスカッションに重点を置いた授業を行っています。そのため、国語が苦手な方でも、楽しく学べると思います。

家庭科の授業では、子どもの成長や栄養素について学びました。ゆったりとした環境で、グループワークも多く、意見交換もしやすいです。家庭科のような副教科は面白くないと思うかもしれません。それでも、赤ちゃんの人形に触れて子どものはかなさを体験したり、バランスのとれた献立を考えようとしたりと、様々な活動があります。先生は穏やかな方で、丁寧に説明してくれます。COVID-19が落ち着いたら調理実習もやる予定なので、それも楽しみです。

HOME ECONOMICS

In our home economics class, we learned about children's growth and nutrition. The environment is relaxed, and there is a lot of group work, making it easy to exchange ideas. You might think that a secondary subject like home economics would be uninteresting. Still, we have various activities, such as touching a baby doll to experience children's fragility and trying to come up with a balanced menu. The teacher is gentle and calm and explains things in detail. We are also planning to do a cooking class once COVID-19 is settled, so we are looking forward to that.

美術の授業は自由で、きれいな絵を描くことではなく、自分を表現することに重点が置かれています。そのため、筆以外のものを使って絵を描いたり、ひまわりの特徴を1分間でどれだけコントロールできるかを試してみたりと、ユニークな活動をしました。それぞれが好きなことをやっているので、この写真は大阪市の高校のアート作品が集まる芸術祭に出す作品の表紙に使う写真を体で表して撮ったものです。

ART

Art classes are free, and the focus is on expressing oneself, not drawing a beautiful picture. Therefore, we did unique activities such as painting with something other than a brush or trying to see how well we could control a sunflower's characteristics in just one minute. Each of us does what we like to do, and this photo was taken as a physical representation of the image we will use for the cover of an art festival for high school art students in Osaka.

PHYSICS

In physics class, we've been learning about different forces and speed. It is conducted in English and Japanese, so we feel comfortable asking questions immediately if we don't understand something. At the beginning of the class, we will do a review quiz on the previous lesson's content, and then we will mainly focus on experiments. There are many opportunities to write down the results of our observations in English, so it's a challenge for us. However, the teacher gives us hints, which are helpful.

物理の授業では、力や速度の違いについて学んでいます。英語と日本語で行われているので、わからないことがあればすぐに質問できるので安心です。授業の初めには、前回の授業内容の復習小テストを行い、その後は主に実験を中心に行います。英語で観察した結果を書き出す機会が多いので、それが課題になります。しかし、先生がヒントをくれるので助かっています。

体育の授業は、運動が苦手な人でも参加しやすくなっています。体操服は決まっていませんので、私服を持参しています。生徒のやりたい活動を優先していて、最近はバレーボールに力を入れています。自分たちのペースで進めようと先生方も厳しくなく、周りの人たちも応援してくれています。試合に参加している人も見ている生徒も、お互いの頑張りを応援したり、褒め合ったりしているので、クラスのモチベーションにつながっています。

P.E.

Our P.E. classes are accessible to those who are not athletic.　We don't have a set gym uniform, so we bring our clothes. We prioritize the activities that students want to do, and recently we have been focusing on volleyball. The teachers are not strict about progressing at our own pace, and the people around us are supportive. Those who participate in the games and the students who are watching are cheering and praising each other's efforts, which motivates the class.

CHEMISTRY

In Chemistry class, we learned about the structure of atoms and chemical bonds. It's a subject that involves many technical terms and can be challenging to follow, but our teacher teaches us through games to make it easier to understand. Our vocabulary and comprehension have also been enhanced because we perform the experiments and write our observations in English. Many people say that this school made them love chemistry more.

化学の授業では、原子の構造や化学結合について学びました。専門用語が多くて難しい科目ですが、先生がゲームを使って分かりやすく教えてくれます。また、実験をしたり、観察したことを英語で書いたりするので、語彙力や理解力も向上しています。この学校のおかげで化学がもっと好きになったという声が多いです。
