The Hummingbird kit allows students to create robots, kinetic sculptures, and animatronics built out of a combination of kit parts and crafting materials. Designed for ages 13 and up, Hummingbird provides a way to introduce students to robotics and engineering with construction materials they are already familiar with. Students can begin programming in easy-to-use environments like Scratch and Snap! However, new challenges are possible by allowing programming in the Arduino environment, Python, Java, Processing, and supporting Raspberry Pi.
