Spreadable Heaven
A gift waiting to be opened
Hard at the core
Middle soft
Easily bruised
Skin scaly
But smooth to the touch
Your core in the dirt
You grow from the inside out
An umbrella of leaves above
And you become fleshy
To be picked from the roots
You look tough to those around you
But a slight tap on the shoulder,
Could hurt you
You are confident
Like a glow stick after being cracked open
Vibrant and neon
But the long hand of a clock
Might not make a full circle
Before you lose it all --
You become bitter
And lose your bright neon to the darkness
We need to find you
After you let your guard down
But before you lose control
So we can be in the presence
Of greatness
No matter how long it takes
We have patience
We will watch
Sunrises
And sunsets
for you to be ready
And then once you are
Perfect
You will make new friends
Lime, to bring the sour
Cilantro, gifting flavor
Salt pulling everything, together
Creating exquisite powers
And bringing smiles to those around you
Each part of you is important
For your growth
A protective outside
Like a pillow for the fleshy insides
Kept safe
Like a queen
Being protected by her guards
On her throne
Dripping with jewels
Of great value
