Throughout this semester, I have grown as an artist in the techniques I used as an artist in the medium of clay and the amount of design or detail I have put, especially through adding contrast and vivid design. I think my portfolio from this semester reveals all the different medium styles I tried this semester and how I grew as a sculpture artist. As my pieces are all different from each other, ones from the wheel to those that were hand-done or using a plate-transfer method as well. I think my portfolio is an accurate reflection of my development in the class as I got to focus primarily on sculpting items and using different mediums on it, as in acryllic on my mugs to glaze, and furthermore, using sgraffito and under-glaze. I developed as an artist by being able to use multiple different techniques on a piece now to improve it further and add more details on it. The piece I choose from the beginning was my wheel pieces, my bowl and cup that are not perfect but I liked the outcome of them. I used clay for it as my medium, my technique for making it was on the wheel which was a bit of a struggle at first, but slowly I got the hang of it. In terms of skills, I believe I had lots of repetition on my pieces execution in its composure and it turned out how I wanted it too in my artistic vision. For principles and elements, my pieces represent composure and clamness as they stayed together and had a clumped execution. Also, I believe my creativity lacked as I choose a basic color for my pieces, but also my green bowl is a matcha bowl and has an important usage. Now, in my second piece, I have my Umbrella man mug which I hand-did and made the model first of the mug. The process I started with was making a round design, cylinder like and then I added the mug holder using slip and score method. I set up my design with sketching it out and looking at reference photos. I believe my mug is successful in the colors I used, giving it lots of contrast from dark purple mug holder to the light purple on the outside. Furthermore, I believe my colorful mugs' colors makes it in-depth and the thickness of the paint gives it a more 3-d overview. If I did these pieces again, I would have made the inside of my purple mug black instead of white and I would have made my background a purple color instead of white and blue ombre to make it more centered and colorful. The mood I wanted my pieces to have was homeful and happiness and I believe my pieces give this mood, especially through my colorful petermax mug that gives a celebration and aww sense of feeling. I think my purple mug kinda gives a sad feeling instead, which is not what I wanted but I do not hate it. Overall, I feel my pieces are good and turned out well, even though they are not food-safe haha. I like how contrasted my pieces are, from the dark to warm tones usage and using arcyllic and glaze mediums on my clay mugs. I feel very proud of these pieces and its execution, I love the mugs different colors and how they both contrast each other. I believe I can make better mugs in the future and make them more detailed.

How do you describe your artistic style/perspective? How do you define success as an artist? What do you find most rewarding about being an artist? What are some of the most important skills you draw upon to create your work? What are some of the most significant things you've learned through art-making? DON'T FORGET TO ADD PHOTOS
I would describe my artistic style/perspective as a surreal and vivid art style. I like to use a vast amount of colors and bright colors that bring happiness and joy to the viewer. I would define success as anything that looks done and content in your opinion as an artist and is as perfect as you want it. The most rewarding thing about being an artist is seeing your final product and it is exactly what you imagined it to be, perfect in all its colors and imagery. Some of the most important skills I have drawn upon to create my work are my iPhone and looking at reference photos of what brings happiness to an audience, researching this and finding that using bright colors usually evokes a happy feeling, one I envision my audience to have after looking at my pieces. Some of the most significant things I have learned through art-making are to be patient with my pieces and let time do its thing. I cannot rush myself when creating art, no matter how fast I want my piece completed, I must take my time to let my work come out perfectly and how I want it.
What medium was your favorite to work with? Explain why and how you were able to master the techniques associated with this medium. DON'T FORGET TO ADD PHOTOS
My favorite medium to work with is clay as it is really versatile, fun to work with, and I can make whatever I want in as much detail or as little as I want. I like how I make each piece unique and use different mediums on clay with different under-glaze or regular glaze or use aryllic paint, or even water-color to create vibrancy or contrast in my pieces. I was able to master the techniques associated with this medium by using it repeatedly throughout the semester in many of my projects. I highly wanted to master this medium for AP-3D next year and I like how in many of my pieces I created contrast and repeition in the composure of my pieces. Furthermore, I added lots of different colors to make my pieces more in-depth or made them more shiny with glazes to produce a glass like-glossy finish.
Regardless of whether a project was successful or not, describe the one where you learned, grew, or developed the most from? Please explain. DON'T FORGET TO ADD PHOTOS
A project I learned and grew from the most was this piece I made on the wheel that turned out not how I wanted. The piece I made is a cup that is slightly tiled and is supposed to look like it's melting into its base as well. How I made it by first making my cup on the wheel. This process was interesting as at first I made a centered, perfect cup design. However, as I did more edits on it on the wheel, I accidently spun too fast and tilted my piece. I decided to keep my piece titled and then fixed it up. Lastly, I took some clay and rolled it out flat, cut out a kinda-perfect circle, and meshed both pieces together to create this titled cup into the base design. This piece was successful in my opinion as at first my piece got messed up, but I decided to make a mess up into a creation and made it into a titled masterpiece. I love how the execution of my piece seems perfect and seamless, but in reality, it is a mistake that turned into a piece. If I had to do this piece again, I would have added more glaze into the crack that was created after it was fired so its appearance would have been more hindered. My art I feel has the right feeling/mood that it should have as in I believe my piece gives people a feeling of comfort and security. As the cup top is covered and deep within, its composure can give people a sense of calmness. Furthermore, I like how its top is thick and then slowly goes thin as its titled design, depicts a sense of unity and strength. Overall, I feel my piece is amazing and I love how I turned a mistake into a success. I feel proud of this piece as its color is a nice beige color, its composure is very lovely, and it has repetition occurring on the outsideness of the cup. I like how titled the piece is while still being amazing and looking neat and composed. Furthermore, I appreciate how I made it on the wheel but also used hand methods to fix and clean up my piece further. Also, I like how my piece settles into the peaceful background of the forest and lake for nature and viewers to see. Moreso, I like how my piece looks like it's melting into nature too by it being naturally titled.
