Cropped Self-Portrait

Cropped Self-Portrait

Artist Statment

The idea for this project originated from the prompt, my prompt was just that... "Make a cropped self-portrait" I had about 30 minutes to plan and create this piece. It was pretty simple, I started off by getting a mirror pointed at me and just picked a random location on the mirror to draw, Now I chose my eyes because no matter how much I get up or move around it will always be the same when I look back into the mirror. This is why I picked my eye.

This art piece took an HB and B graphite drawing pencils, a mirror, a ruler, and about 20 minutes.

How I approached this project was by picking where I wanted to draw, after many minutes of sitting there I chose my eye and made a small rectangular box on my paper. After this, I just started getting to work. I pretty much did this whole prject in one go, I just sketched out a rough draft of an eye, cleaned it up, and i was happy with that. Then i just added the details I saw and by that time my 20 minutes was up
