Schematics

Original Blueprint

This is the blueprint of how my group and I planned our machine. We originally tried to build our machine exactly as drawn, but we soon realized that this was illogical. Not only were the measurements unobtainable, but multiple components of the machine itself were just too complicated to achieve the amount of time we had. After this realization we began to stray from the blueprints and removed a few aspects, yet kept the overall idea of the board.

Final Blueprint

In our final blue print you can see we have a few less steps than the original, but a more organized project. The measurements on this blueprint were more accurate and clearly shown compared to the original. We removed a pulley, a "pen gun," moved the knife, and moved all of our steps upwards about 4 inches.

Simple Machines

My group and I included five of the six simple machines:

  • a screw - inclined plane wrapped around an axel
  • a lever - bar resting on pivot, used to move a heavy load when pressure applied to the other side
  • a pulley - wheel with a grooved rim around which a cord passes through
  • a wedge - a material having one thick end tapering into a thin edge
  • an inclined plane - a sloping ramp
