Drawing Tutorials

Over the past few months, I have dedicated time each week to developing my sketching skills! Sketching is understood as a key factor for creative expression, the most effective visual thinking tools and so applied for design. It is considered the principal approach by which design engineers externalize their concepts and where the drawings provide visual clues for refinement and revision. Following tutorials and taking thorough notes allowed me to improve my knowledge and skill significantly!

Below is a collection of the many sketches and notes I created!

DRAWING TUTORIALS

Something I think I did well over the course of this time was maintaining strong work ethic. Every week, I submitted the assigned tutorials on time and put in great effort to make each sketch look the best I could. For someone like me who would definitely not consider herself an artist, I did not expect much out of this assignment. But upon reflecting, I can truly see the development I was able to make. By consistenly practicing every week, I was able to progress more than I ever could have thought. Another thing I believe I did well was my organization. Even though there were many papers used to sketch and takes notes on, I kept a specific folder to hold all of these assignments in to make sure none were lost. It helped me to keep them all in one place, especially now when it came time to do a final submission of my sketches!

I feel that I could have improved on my attitude towards the assignments as a whole. Although I managed to complete all of them and spent the time and effort required for them to look good, I tended to let frustration get the best of me sometimes. The work seemed to be extremely tedious at times, and caused me to view it as an annoyance rather than a learning experience.

Overall, I can see that these drawing tutorials helped me become significantly better at my sketching. This is an important skill to develop as it will contribute to future engineering projects and designs that I take part in!
