Step 4 for our Capstone project was largely focused on researching and thinking about the minute details of our design. This entailed creating classification schemes as well as continue prototyping. During this period we felt that we further cemented our idea of our design and we feel confident that our design is above the certain goals and parameters we set earlier. Also during this period we continued to test and refine our prototype and collect data. We hope to confirm the presence of Western-Screech owls in our study area soon. We also made a poster and a self-explaining presentation that was at our open house night. Finally, we worked with softwares like onShape and Autodesk to learn more about 3D printing and design. Below is all the materials and documents we used and created during step 4.
During this period I felt that our group was very productive and achieved good progress. I am happy that we have both our acoustic and photographic data collecting devices in use. We hope to get more data out of them in the coming weeks. one thing that I wish our group did better was to spend more time working on our prototype. it was difficult to find time with all of the other assignments like classification schemes and presentation preparation. We also hope to start on ou prototype#2 for our box design and maybe buy some more wood.
