This project's goal was pretty self-explanatory; solve a world problem. After brainstorming we decided that we would try to create a solution to homelessness. Our first step was to decide whether to treat the problem on a local scale, national scale, or worldwide scale. We choose local. Next we drew up a plan layout stating the outlines of our project. We decided to create a temporary shelter to provide education therapy and addiction services to the homeless. Then we created a digital blueprint of our house that could easily be replicated for new locations. After that we created a in-depth presentation detailing our work.
We choose to try to solve homelessness because it is very prevalent near where we live.
We took evidence from very high quality websites like the White House and NCBI. These facts allowed us to delve into the problem deeper and create a detailed presentation.
We partially skipped over this step because we had already decided that a temporary shelter was the way to go previously in our process.
We chose to build a temporary shelter because it allowed us to be creative and think of small details that would help our members become working civilians again.
This process was the part where we worked the most on. We thought of small details that would make our shelter functional and comfortable. This was my favorite part.
Although we couldn't actually build our shelter, I am very confident that it would have helped many homeless people.
Two things that I think my group and I did particularly well on was attention to detail and presentation skills. One very important part of this project was attention to detail and I think that our group nailed it. For example, our digital blueprint was well thought out and we meticulously placed every chair and bed to make it as realistic as possible. We also did a great job of creating and presenting a detailed yet easy to watch presentation which relayed our point clearly.
There is only one aspect of my work in this project that I would like to improve on. As a leader I tend to sometimes take over to much and do all of the work for my team without asking them for help. Next time, I will divide the work up for it is more balanced.
