Drawing Tutorials

Content:

Drawing is an essential aspect of engineering! It was important to myself to work on strengthening my artistic skills, and utalize these kills when brainstorming, sketching, and creating blueprints. Each week in class us students were assigned to watch and take notes on a series of 1-7 videos. The videos walked us through basic art techniques and then started focusing on strengthening more difficult skills, such as conducting an orthgraphic drawing or creating realism in a piece.

All my notes and sketches from the videos can be seen below, check it out!!! Each week we turned in our sketches both digitally and in person. My favorite sketches can be seen in the last few weeks, when our class started experimenting with shadows and line weights. I love adding these features as it really brings life to the piece! All these notes/sketches were done over a series of around 15 weeks. I did not have to present my work, however I did turn it in and recieved points based on effort and quality.

Reflection:

I personally really enjoyed these tutorials. It was a nice break throughout the week to express our creativity while developing usefull skills along the way. I look forward to stregthening my artistic skills further as I continue to utalize sketching in brainstorming and throughout my capstone project. I will defienlty take away a lot of knowledge from these tutorials and have become a better engineer because of them!

While watching these videoes, in the future I want to draw more and take less notes. I am much more of a visual learner and I think I would have retained more of the abundance of information talked about at once, if I drew out more, rather than took notes. I look forward to reflecting on these notes at the end of the school year and seeing how far my artistic skills/sketches have come since then!

I am proud of myself for always putting my best effort into each tutorial. I always wanted to take away as much knowledge as possible and utalize my time and the education being offered to myself. Because of this, I took extremly good notes and focused on improving my sketches every day until they reached a consistent level of quality. I do hope we get these drawings back from my teacher at the end of the year because they took an abundance of time and I would love to utalize them in the future!
