Reading Literature

Over the course of this year, we explored issues surrounding "Self and Society." We read several literary works including Of Mice and Men, Lord of the Flies, Romeo and Juilet, and To Kill a Mockingbird, along with many short stories and poems. To further explore these ideas, we were assigned to read two Independent Reading Books(IRBs). I selected Looking for Alaska by John Green and The Help by Kathryn Stockett.

Book Review

One of our assignments this year was to write a book review on one of the novels we had read this year. We did this to help further comprehend and understand the literature we were reading. For mine I chose my second IRB, The Help. I really enjoyed this book and wanted to continue analyzing it for the book review assignement.

Reflection

I feel like this project showed my reading comprehension as well as my ability to interpret the information I read. This assignment allowed me to think about the novel from a different light and allowed me to analyze its powerful message further. Something I feel like I did well during this project was time managment. We only had one class period to complete our book review. This time restraint made me focus on just the assignment and didn't allow me to get distracted.
