At NHS, if you take accelerated history, it tends to only mean one thing: NHD. National History Day. Those three letters loom ahead of you like a dark cloud on the horizon. But what if I told you that NHD is really not that bad?

On February 3rd in East Palestine, Ohio, a train carrying toxic chemicals was derailed, causing the chemicals to spill out, leading to environmental harm. The train ran off the track, and this caused a huge fire to start.

On February 3rd, 2023, I had the pleasure of attending, as well as performing at, La Soir Du Francophone, AKA French Night, in a packed auditorium. The night opened with Mia Allen reciting the song “Ici Bas” followed by a reading of the poem “Ode a L’Hiver,” by Jiyu Lee.
