Accessing the VMware Horizon Client on your Device
At this time the Virtual Desktops provided by the FASD technology department are only accessible for students that have signed up for BYOD. You can either access the virtual desktop with a web browser or from the VMware Horizon Client app (available on Android, IOS, and Windows)
Accessing the Virtual Desktop with a web browser
- Open a web browser and type vgw.fasd.k12.pa.us in the address bar
- Click VMWare Horizon View HTML Access
- Type in the username and password that you use to login to a school computer (netbook)
- Click Login
- Click on the virtual desktop that is available (HS General or MS General)
Accessing the Virtual Desktop with the VMware Horizon Client app (Android / IOS)
- Go to the Play Store (Android) or the App Store (IOS)
- Search for VMware Horizon Client and install it
- Open the VMware Horizon App
- In the Server Name or Address field type vgw.fasd.k12.pa.us then click connect
- Type in the username and password that you use to login to a school computer (netbook)
- Click Connect
- Click on the virtual desktop that is available (HS General or MS General)
Accessing the virtual desktop with the VMware Horizon Client app (Windows)
- Open a web browser and type vgw.fasd.k12.pa.us in the address bar
- Click on the Install VMware Horizon View Client button
- Under VMware Horizon Client for Windows Click the Go to Downloads link be sure to choose the correct version for your computer (32-bit or 64-bit)
- Click the download button
- When the download is finished open it
- Click Next
- Click the I accept the license agreement box and click next
- Click Next
- In the Default Horizon Connection Server box type vgw.fasd.k12.pa.us
- Click Next on the next few windows and then click Install and Finish.
- You will need to restart your computer
- Open the VMware Horizon Client shortcut on your desktop
- Double click the vgw.fasd.k12.pa.us button
- Type in the username and password that you use to login to a school computer (netbook) Then click login
- Click on the virtual desktop that is available (HS General or MS General)
