Fall 2020: I have conducted my observations at McKinley in third, fourth, seventh grade and Kindergarten.
McKinley is a project based learning school and provides a student-centered 21st-century learning environment. They value compassion, rigor and diversity.
Throughout my observations, I have taught two math lessons, one in fourth grade and one in third grade. Teaching remotely has been challenging but has showed some advantages in its infinite resources. I have been able to discover many different tools to engage students in their learning and to make sure that my lessons reached all students.
In fourth grade, I taught a lesson on classifying triangles based on their angles.
I had many plans using different technological tools but not all of them worked. I ended up using an online Geoboard from didax.com (left) which was recommended to me by a fellow student teacher.
Students also completed a worksheet (right).
In third grade, I taught math boxes, which included an assortment of problems to practice reading time, addition, multiplication and division, subtraction and arrays.
I used Preview and a marker tool to write over the worksheet.
