"Talent wins games, but teamwork and intelligence win championships." - Michael Jordan
Collaboration: The ability to work productively and equitably while valuing others in diverse educational settings.
Collaboration is such an important skill to develop, whether it's as a student or as the teacher. Through discussion with peers, we are able to get feedback, insight, different perspectives, advice... Chances are someone will be able to help you, or bring something new to the table that will make your experience richer. Collaboration is also a great way to practice communication.
I had the opportunity to work with college students from Puerto Vallarta, discussing online school and helping them practice their English.
We used Zoom and WhatsApp to communicate ideas and plan meetings. Spanish was used to translate tricky vocabulary and make sure that ideas were being shared clearly.
It was a great project on many different levels: we got some insight in how to work with ELLs and what tools worked well, we learned more about another culture and different perspectives...
