As a member of the Dominican Nursing Student Association (DNSA), a student-run nursing club at Dominican University since August 2018, I have participated in a couple fundraiser bake sales in order to raise money toward providing resources to members of the club as well as club meetings such as beginning of the semester icebreakers and DIY badge reel workshops. By being a part of DNSA, I am not only able to connect with other nursing student peers (including lower and upperclassmen), but to also voice my experience in the nursing program, fundraise toward organizations such as for Black Lives Matter, and tips on getting through nursing school.
SI-SIGA is a newly founded interprofessional organization created by Dominican nursing and occupational therapy faculty to focus on those with a special interest in the growing population and adult. Our first event was created just in time for Valentine's Day where we were able to reconnect with our members and create either digital or handmade cards to be sent out to residents living in the Marin Community Village.
