Hello! My name is Jiramanee Apiwansri.
I am currently attending Dominican University of California as a full-time Nursing student, double minoring in psychology and leadership studies. I am also part of Dominican's Honors program and was inducted into the school's Honors psychology society Psi Chi. I anticipate to graduate in Spring of 2022. After, I plan to obtain work experience in a hospital setting as a critical care registered nurse.
I am originally from San Francisco, California and graduated from Lowell High School in June of 2018. At Lowell High School, I was a peer mentor, and a tutor for the California Scholarship Federation (CSF).
As a current Senior 1 nursing student at Dominican, I maintained a cumulative GPA of 3.96 and is an active member of DNSA (Dominican Nursing Student Association) as well as being a part of the university-wide peer mentoring program, peer mentoring program specific to nursing students, and a former nursing fundamentals lab assistant.
Throughout high school, I gained experience in a hospital setting by volunteering at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center (VAMC) in San Francisco and at Laguna Honda Rehabilitation Center. At the VAMC, I volunteered in the Emergency Department where I assisted nurses to triage patients, take vital signs, and transport patients to the radiology department. At the Laguna Honda Rehabilitation Center, I volunteered at the clinic to assist nurses in transporting the patient's and their charts back to their hospital room.
In my free time, I enjoy going on family road trips and going on vacation. I love exploring new places such as this trip where I visited Arizona's Antelope Canyons and the Horseshoe Bend.
In addition to exploring new places, I enjoy taking pictures of landscapes, hiking, listening to music, going on food adventures with friends, and spending time with my family.
I come from a Thai-Chinese family and helping others is an important aspect in my family. In August of 2018, I was rewarded with a scholarship from the Angels Wings Foundation in Los Angeles, California which gave me the financial support to further my studies onto college.
I chose to pursue nursing and psychology after caring for my father while he was ill with colon cancer. Throughout the years, I assisted him when going to the hospital, taking medications, and being his support system through chemotherapy. Not only did I find my passion in providing emotional and physical support to my father, but for others.
