I am currently student teaching in the Fourth Grade in Connected Classroom SRCS! We are currently working on:
Writing informational texts
Learning about the California Transformation Period Following the Gold Rush
Women's History Month
Multiplication and Fractions
Reading By The Great Horn Spoon by Sid Fleishman
Kindergarten in the Connected Classroom was an engaging and fun experience where I got to work with a class that believes in being Changemakers and learns a lot about how Social Justice impacts our lives! Some of the things we learned about were:
Phonics
Math ( addition and subtraction, number lines, shapes
Writing How To Books
Metereology

As a student teacher, I played math games with many students, helped on group projects and presentations, and taught a math lesson on Volume.
The math lesson was very successful and gave me very helpful insight into how important it is to have a fully prepared lesson. I found the use of a powerpoint very helpful in guiding both myself and the students through the lesson and will definitely be using them in my own classroom.
During the 2nd Grade Ancestry unit, I taught a lesson about the children's book And Tango Makes Three. None of the students had read the story and it was a great opportunity to see how they responded to the story and use a formative assessment to see how they grasped the plot.
