Reflection Questions
Modeling Choices: What was the most challenging object to model in your scene, and how did you overcome that challenge?
To be honest, I planned on originally modeling out a character that belongs to the game, Mithrix, to hold the hammer. However, mainly due to time constraints I was not able to overcome the challenge and had to scrap him. He also rather hard to make at my level.
Lighting Choices: How did you use both ambient and object-specific lighting to enhance the realism of your scene?
I used object specific lighting to enhance the hammer, making it look a lot more polished. Other than that I made some ambient skylights to actually make the scene look realistic, giving it a different look than the video game originally had.
Renderer Used: Which rendering settings or renderer (Scanline, Arnold, etc.) did you use, and why did you choose it for your final image?
I decided to used Arnold to render. The reason I did this was because I used Arnold lights, which I expected to greatly enhance the scenes realism, and they did. However, since I used Arnold the rendering process took much longer than I expected.
Problem-Solving: What was one issue you encountered while working on this project, and how did you resolve it?
One of the problems I had was a relatively simple fix. When I was creating my lights I added a sort of "skylight" to the scene to act as the sun, but when I did this my screen went completely white. At first I was confused, but then I just realized that I needed to majorly adjust the intensity of the light.
Final Result: If you had more time, what improvements or changes would you make to your scene?
If I had more time, I would 100% try and fully create a Mithrix model. It may not look great, but I would've done the best I could in the extra time I got. I might also try and edit the materials slightly. They look kind of weird and stretched out, and arent really giving off the vibe that the game was originally giving off.
