How did adding different types of lights (Spot, Omni, Skylight, etc.) impact the look and feel of your scene? What challenges did you face in adjusting their settings?
Adding most of the different types of lights allowed me to create semi-realistic lighting in my scene. All of the lights I used have different functions, and when properly utilized they all fit into the scene together to create realistic daylight, headlights, and moonlight. When adjusting their settings, everything seemed pretty simple but I was just hoping that I didn't mess anything up. The reason I felt like this was because I was afraid if I did mess something up it would vastly change the results of the AutoKey.
What effect did linking the headlights to the car body have on the animation? How did using the Align tool help ensure accurate placement?
By linking the headlights to the car body, I was able to accurately portray what real headlights act like. When linking them to the car, it allows the lights to follow the movement of the car instead of staying in place. By using the Align tool, I was able to make it so that the headlights stay infront of the car, and would face the same direction that it did.
How did animating the lights to transition between day and night affect the overall atmosphere of the scene? What key adjustments were necessary to make the transition look realistic?'
By animating the lights to transition between day and night, it added realism to the scene by having a full day and night cycle. It would have been more realistic if the car was moving exponentially faster than it currently is, because at the rate its moving and the speed of the day/night cycle, you can tell that it's moving extremely slow. To make the transition look realistic, I had to use the Auto Key and move the lights at certain frames, such as 359 and 719, so that lights would slowly move in between each key, to the destination.
Why was it important to enable shadows for your lights? How did this affect the realism of your final render?
By enabling shadows for my lights, the illusion of night and day was strengthened, even though I already changed the color of the lights to fit a real night and day cycle. This adds realism to the render, because shadows obviously represent the time of day. Also, if shadow's weren't here, it just wouldn't be considered realistic.
What role did cameras play in your scene? How did positioning and linking the cameras change how your animation was viewed?
The cameras I used allowed me to get 2 different points of view of the moving car. By linking the cameras to the car, they were able to actually follow the car, while still being as far away as I had originally positioned them. If the cameras weren't linked to the car, instead of moving with the car they would have just stayed in the exact same spot the entire time.
