Creation Process:
If you couldn't tell, I used paper tubes, the types you find in paper towels or toilet paper rolls. The reason I chose these materials was because a long time ago, I used to pretend that these paper rolls would be daggers, and I would fight my siblings. Also, it was one of the only materials I could really use to create something. I sold some of my old legos a while back.
Challenges and Solutions:
Originally, I was just going to tape the smaller roll onto the bigger role, but than I realized that that wouldn't look real, and it wouldn't function as a normal guard. While it did make it look less appealing, I decided to use some scizzors and create some holes in the side of the bigger tube, where the guard should be. That way, it actually somewhat resembles a dagger.
From Physical to Digital:
This dagger would be relatively easy to recreate in 3ds max. All I would need to do is create a relatively long cylinder, and then a smaller one. I would line the smaller one up inside the bigger on like the dagger I made looks like, create a copy of the small cylinder, and then use the pro boolean tool to get rid of the inside of the large cylinder. This way, it would look near identical to the in person dagger I made (except for the tears.)
