My theme for this project was the idea of common hinderances that limit our ability to do, act, and/or feel how we want to. I originally wanted to include some sports-oriented photos with this project, but my own hinderances ironically limited me from doing so. Instead of changing themes, I opted to broaden my idea of what this can affect by focusing on more general things like appearance and weather. I intentionally picked objects that had a glaring imperfection, because these imperfections can limit their ability to appease expectations placed upon them. If a person wanted to enjoy sunny and warm weather, the snow on the ground is a representation of how the changing seasons eliminate their ability to do so. If a person wanted a clean representation for their land or objects, the paint chips, water stains, concrete cracks, and dead plants would fail to meet their expectations. However; these things are ultimately unavoidable in reality. Paint chips and dirt accumulation are natural side effects of degradation over time. Plants naturally die in the winter, and water stains will naturally happen from rain and other elements. These things will always hinder us from accomplishing these tasks, but it's just something we have to live with and accept.
