Hi, my name is Martha Van Slyke. I am currently a freshman at James M. Steele Accelerated High School. I am enrolled in the Collegiate Academy here, which is an academy that offers dual credit classes from North Texas Central College. This school is academically challenging in the best way and allows me to set realistic goals to help me get closer to the future I want for myself. If I continue to take dual credit classes through my high school career, I will be able to graduate with an Associate's Degree from NCTC. This is an incredible opportunity that I am more than thankful to have and I can't wait to apply my real-world experience and knowledge I learn here to my future career prospect! I have not yet completely settled on an idea of what I want to be in the future, but I know I would love to do something involving literature and writing, possibly even teaching it to others. Although I have not yet decided on this, I can't wait to explore more ideas and examples of what I can do in my future here at Steele! Some things about me are that I was born on February 21, 2003, in Illinois. I have been to multiple different states, but never out of the country, although I hope to get the chance to change this in my future. Other than this, I have more things that interest me. Although I love writing, I also love drawing, sketching, painting, valuing creativity, anything involving art. I also enjoy running Cross Country, volunteering at local libraries, and hanging out with friends. Other values of mine besides creativity include family, honesty, generosity, independence and more. Using these values, I can't wait to see where Steele M. Accelerated High School takes me!
During the 2017-2018 school year, I have had many academic accomplishments. One of these is the Entrepreneurial Small Business Certification. After studying and preparing, I was able to pass the Certiport certified test and gain the certification, meaning I am now certified in small businesses.
