The document to the right encompasses the current version of the Product Design Specification (PDS) table, along with the benchmarking table. Additionally, it outlines the process I undertook to comprehend the provided reading materials, acquaint myself with the task's requisites and characteristics. โ
Constructing the PDS posed a considerable challenge for me (and still is till the end), stemming from a confluence of factors that created a demanding situation. The initial hurdle lay in my unfamiliarity with the subject matter. The PDS necessitated a level of technical and quantitative proficiency that diverged significantly from my accustomed engagement with qualitative values. Complicating matters was the specialised nature of the provided reading resources, which predominantly centred around industrial design and bicycle manufacturing. As a communication design student, grappling with these resources was significantly burdensome, exacerbated by the extensive use of intricate terminologies that fell beyond my knowledge.
It is noteworthy that the initial steps were particularly onerous, marked by a subconscious inclination to evade the daunting and unfamiliar nature of the task at hand. The process of engaging with the reading materials itself presented its own set of challenges, yet it proved remarkably enlightening in terms of charting a coherent course of action. In hindsight, I've come to appreciate that the initial difficulties and discomforts were inherent to the journey of understanding and executing this task.
Navigating this terrain engendered a palpable sense of unease, prompting me to seek external guidance to alleviate the stress. Learning from the experience in the first semester, I made sure to reach out for assistance early in the process, recognising that attempting to surmount this intricate task in isolation might prove counterproductive. My interactions with counsellors, tutors, and peers have been a significant help in realising this assignment, and with planning my time more wisely.
