Science Content Connection (Literacy & Mathematics)
Integration is a vital part of the CCR standards. Authentic integration allows for skills and strategies to be transferred within content areas. Content standards should not be sacrificed for integration. Integration occurs through purposeful planning and meaningful rich leaning experiences that follow the DoDEA scope and sequence.

Science and Literacy Connections
“Not only has implementing Science Notebooks in my classroom revved up the students desire to investigate and inquire during Science time, but I have seen a huge shift in their literacy development as well. The students have gone from basic sentences to more complex writing including content vocabulary and vivid descriptive words. The students have taken what we have started to implement in our notebooks and applied it to their speaking and listening skills. Walking around listening to the students engaging conversations using content knowledge, disputing claims with evidence, and referencing vocabulary has been the greatest take away from science notebooks.”
Mrs. Jamie Espinosa, 3rd Grade Teacher at Ramstein Intermediate (2020)
