School Password Manager 4 operates, for the most part, like previous iterations of the software. Version 4 was written from scratch to accommodate the single DS domain rather than the various region domains the previous versions handled.
Here is the initial SPM4 page:
(Note: If you come to a page that Shows the title and your username and nothing else, hold down CTRL and F5 to refresh the page)
To Search for a Student:
If no students with the name entered are found then the page will display “No students found”.
If students are found, then the results will appear in a paged list with 20 results shown at a time.
To search again, either click the “Reset” button to clear the text box and results or simply enter a new name in the text box and click Search again.
The results table shows student’s name, the student’s current account status, and their school. The account status will show either show a status of Ok or LOCKED OUT for student’s who accounts are locked.
To unlock an account, click the Unlock button for the account. The page will show an alert indicating that the task to unlock the account has been queued.
When the action has completed, another alert will display indicating the result:
There is no need to wait for a response before working on other student accounts. The page will show the resulting alert once completed even if the user is searching and unlocking other students.
The “Clear Alerts” button will remove all alerts from the page. This is handy if several actions have been performed and the alerts are taking up space on the page.
To review past actions and their results, click on the “Show Previous Actions” button to see a list of all actions taken by the user in descending chronological order:
To change passwords for an account, click on the Change Password button for the student. A modal window like below will appear.
To change the password, enter a password meeting the length and complexity requirements into the “Enter New Password” and “Confirm New Password” fields. As the user types in the new password, the page will show which requirements have and have not been met:
The option to change the password will not be available until all requirements are met. When the requirements are met and both passwords in the two text boxes match then the option will appear:
The option to “Show Password” will remove the masking and allow the user to see what has been typed. The “Reset Required” option will force the student to change their password before logging in.
