Americas MTSS Guiding Principles (4 Cs):
1) Collective Responsibility -Shared belief and responsibility belongs to every adult in the building to ensure high levels of learning for every child.
2) Concentrated Instruction-Systematic process includes identifying essential knowledge and skills that all students must master to learn at high levels and determining the specific learning needs for each child to get there.
3) Convergent Assessment and Data Collection-An ongoing process of collectively analyzing targeted evidence to determine the specific learning needs of each child and to measure the effectiveness of the instruction the student receives in meeting these needs.
4) Certain Access - A systematic process that guarantees every student will receive the time and support needed to learn at a rigorous level.
All students have access to Tier 1 – Essential Core Instruction, Preventions & Extensions
Some students have certain access to Tier 2 – Supplemental Interventions & Extensions
Few students have certain access to Tier 3 – Intensive Interventions & Extensions
