Responsibilities and Duties

  • Plan PSAT day for freshmen, to teach them about Providence early in the year and provide them with guidance from seniors.

  • Plan Officer Prep, the annual leadership workshop used to gain candidates for next year's leadership class. This workshop teaches prospective students about leadership and teaches them skills that they need for the class.

Introduction to the Chair

Being Special Events Informational Chair is such a blast! To do this chair successfully, you have to be incredibly organized in all of your planning beforehand and during the execution of both events. For PSAT Day, start your planning early. Ensure that you are publicizing senior trainer hours early, and reach out to the NHS advisor to be posted on the google classroom. Make sure your communication is CLEAR- both with your guest speaker, and with your trainers. Clarify your training documents, and ensure that you have multiple opportunities for meetings.

For Officer Prep, ensure that you are planning committees in an effective way. Try to put a mix of grade levels, experience levels, etc, while ensuring that committees like Applications and Booklets have very strong and organized people on them. For workshop groups, you can do this however you want (families, new people, etc). Also ensure that you are communicative with both Dr Harrill and Ms. Mann on dates early, and hold a meeting with Ms. Mann. Create an organized shared timeline for the entire class to work through, and make sure your schedule for the day of is specific and detailed. Overall, organization is your best friend for this event!

Check the individual pages for both PSAT day and Officer Prep for everything you will need for both events. This is just a jumping off point for next year- be creative and change whatever your heart desires, but the debrief documents and final event report for Officer Prep will be your best friend. As always, reach out to Emma or Jennie for any help you need!
