Channel 4 is looking for content made by young filmmakers and producers to be shown on TV. They have specifically requested a theme of creative storytelling. Channel 4 have stated that the project could take the form of a short film, music video or poetic visualisation. I think that a short film will fit the brief best as it allows us to create an interesting story that the audience could feel invested in. The overall length of the video needs to be a minimum of 5 minutes. However, it may run longer than 5 minutes which would prove beneficial to the film to allow the characters to develop and the plot to unravel.
The brief states that the primary audience is going to be those aged 15-21, this young demographic means that our colour palate needs to be rich and captivating with lots of contrast. The project also needs to encourage creativity to allow new filmmakers to get inspiration.
The deadline is 27/05/2022. This is 5-6 months away, the planning and idea development will take the longest to complete so we need to be doing that in our own time, not just at college.
The technical skills required for this project are quite high for the level of quality that is needed. The technical aspect also needs to look like it belongs on television so it needs to look professional. This will require us to use effective lighting, camera angles and movement.
When it comes to meeting the brief, our personal and team limits are the budget. Since we are only a small group of young people, the budget will be far smaller than a studio that takes on the task. However, the limit we have forces us to become more creative and think outside of the box and solve it more quickly and efficiently. Our camera equipment will not be top of the line but once again it will force us to be creative with what we produce.
