October Media Must-Haves: What to read, watch, and listen to this fall. Looking for your next binge-watch or playlist addition? Here’s what’s trending and worth your time:
New Music to Add to Your Playlist
For upbeat pop, take a listen to Taylor Swift’s The Life of a Showgirl or Tate McRae’s newest single, “TIT FOR TAT”. Country fans should check out Luke Combs’ The Prequel for more of his signature sound. Finally, make sure to keep an eye out for rising artists including Aiden Bisset and Good Neighbours.
TV and Film
There haven’t been too many popular new releases in this category as of late, but if you have seen Wednesday, a second season came out last month, so make sure to give that a watch. For fans of The Big Bang Theory or Young Sheldon, Georgie and Mandy’s First Marriage Season 2 premiered on October 16th. Lastly, if you enjoy horror, I highly recommend watching Monster: The Ed Gein Story, a look behind the man who inspired numerous horror films including Alfred Hitchcock’s Psycho.
Books
For the bookworms, I would definitely recommend taking a look at Suzanne Collins’ Sunrise on the Reaping, a prequel to the Hunger Games trilogy in which Haymitch journeys through the second Quarter Quell with double the tributes. I will personally be adding Accomplice to the Villain by Hannah Nicole Maehrer to my to be read (TBR), the third book in the Assistant to the Villain series that continues Evie Sage’s story.
Classic Halloween Picks
With spooky season upon us, it’s time to dust off some old favorites for a good scare. Of course for a classic horror movie, make sure to watch Scream, A Nightmare on Elm Street, or The Conjuring. If you’re looking for fewer frights, check out the 90’s Nickelodeon series Are You Afraid of the Dark? And of course, for a cozy movie night, the classic Hocus Pocus never disappoints.
Coming Soon
Finally, as we head into the holiday season, here are the must-see releases that complete your fall and winter entertainment lineup. Wicked: For Good releases in theaters on November 21st and is a highly anticipated sequel for the 2024 hit movie musical, Wicked, starring Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo. Wrapping up this year’s biggest movie releases, Avatar: Fire and Ash brings the epic saga back to theaters on December 19. On the streaming side, Stranger Things Season 5 is finally hitting Netflix on November 26, promising to wrap up the beloved series.
With so many great options across music, movie, TV, and books, there’s something for everyone this season. What will you check out first?
