The cast and crew of the drama club started preparing skits weeks before the performance. Along with skits, they also played many improvisation games to interact with the audience as well.
I spoke with Jo van Patten, one of the student directors of the Drama club.
Aishani Misra: What was the preparation process like for the Winter Show?
Jo van Patten: The preparation process was relatively short, but it was absolutely jam-packed! We had about a week and a half of rehearsals, running through the skits and improv. Looking back, I definitely should have budgeted more time for them to rehearse. But with what little time we gave the actors, they made the most of. There was not a moment in rehearsals where these actors weren't working! They definitely came through to produce a show that everyone loved.
AM: How did you feel when the cast and crew came together to finally put on the production?
JP: I really cannot express how proud I am of them! They blew me away with amazing performances of skits and improv. This cast of actors is truly hilarious, most times without even trying. It is safe to say that they are the best I've ever had the pleasure of seeing.
On the night of the winter show, the Drama Club revealed the annual spring play. After leaving their audience in suspense with a board full of different potential shows, they finally announced the play to be Peter and the Starcatcher! The show dates are May 5th and 6th. Preparation for the show is currently in full swing as the cast and crew get ready for these May performances. Make sure to buy your tickets and support the Drama club!
