The pandemic has restricted so many events and activities at Niskayuna High School, but not anymore! On September 31st, Niskayuna hosted the annual Activities Fair for all students at the high school. Only seniors had experienced a “normal” pre-Covid Activities Fair, so it was an exciting first time too for the juniors, sophomores一and especially the freshmen.
Before the fair, club leaders worked meticulously on club posters to advertise to potential new members. Students were released early from classes to set up their stands as well as other materials; over 55 stands were set up in the newly finished parking lot.
Niskayuna High School offers a wide-range of clubs for students to join, encompassing everything from STEM and culture to team building and trivia. The majority of clubs have had a long legacy一such as the Warrior Newspaper, Model UN, Science Bowl and Robotics, but many clubs have just begun, including Linguistics, Human Biology, and many more.
To attract visitors and new members, clubs such as Chem Demos and PACE had donuts, candy, bookmarks, and other goodies. Some clubs displayed other interesting marketing strategies, usually in topic with their club activities. Drama Club had people “act” for candy and STEAM Bus even had their bus located next to their table for students to tour. During the entirety of the Activities Fair, the Live Expression Club played live music for students and faculty, providing a lively ambience for the fair一but intended to attract visitors to their poster as well.
This year’s Activities Fair was a successful and exciting return to the full pre-Covid nature of the event. Most clubs added many new members and all in all, it was an enjoyable experience for the student body.
