Summary (D1 Softball)

Texas finished the 2023 season 42–12–1, 11–7 in Big 12 Conference play. Texas also was the first unseeded team to ever reach the Women's College World Series finals. Texas ended up 45-15-1 on the season and won big games against Alabama and Oklahoma State. They made it to the 2nd round of the NCAA tournament where they lost to Tennessee in 2 games. 

Rules

There are 9 players on the field, 6 infielders, 3 outfielders, the positions consist of a pitcher, a catcher, first baseman, second baseman, short stop, and a third baseman. In the outfield, there is a left fielder, right fielder and a center fielder. Each game lasts 7 innings and each team either bats or fields each inning. needing to get three outs each inning to attempt to hit. The home team always gets home advantage which means they hit last and the visitors hit first. 

Jargon 

Home Run, a homerun is when a player hits the ball over the fence and gets to advance to all bases giving the team a run. Runner left on base means that there was a runner or maybe 2 on a base but the batter was either struck out or there were three outs so the runners couldn't advance so they were left on base. Strike out means that the batter who was batting either swung on the ball and missed or the pitcher threw three strikes. 

Cliche 

There are many different stereotypes for softball players one is that they may not be as tough as other players

Softball Legend 

Cat Osterman was born on April 16th, 1983 in Houston, Texas. She attended and was apart of the University of Texas softball team and as well as the United States National team. She played Pitcher for both Texas and the National Team. She has won National Player of the Year 3 times and holds the strikeout record in the NCAA with 2,265 strikeouts in her career.
