Mrs. Lee's Math

How can I find out what is happening in class?

Ask your student to show you their Google Classroom for math class! All answers keys for Review/Previews are posted there for students to access while they are in class.

What have we been working on?

6th Grade

Students in 6th grade have been working on representing rational numbers as percents, decimals, and fractions. We have also started looking at algebra tiles and how to write expressions that represent the area and perimeters of collections of algebra tiles.

In the future, we will be working on writing and solving basic algebraic equations.

7th Grade

Students in 7th grade have been working on using percent to solve word problems. We have also been beginning to use algebraic expressions to represent word problems and using the 5D process to begin solving those same word problems.

In the future, we will be working on writing algebraic equations and using them to solve complex word problems.

Pre-Algebra

Students in Pre-Algebra have been working on representing linear functions in tables, graphs, and rules. We have also been discussing how to solve systems of linear equations.

In the future, we will be working on describing transformations and how to know if a shape is similar or congruent to another.

Algebra

Students in Algebra have been working on how to write equations and create graphs for arithmetic and geometric sequences.

In the future, we will be talking about how to write quadratic equations and how to factor polynomials.

Homework Policy

Homework is assigned in Mrs. Lee’s class almost every day. Students will be given a homework packet at the beginning of each chapter that they will need to bring to class each day. At the beginning of each class, students are given the opportunity to check their homework with the answer key and ask any questions that they have about the work that was assigned. I do not check homework daily. I check homework with a homework quiz at the end of each week. This homework quiz will consist of 3-4 problems from the homework that was assigned that week. Students are able to use their homework on it. So, if they did the homework and made corrections, they should receive a 100% on the homework quiz. If you are noticing that your child is receiving poor grades on the homework quizzes, that means that they are either not doing the homework or not taking the time to check their answers. There are no retakes on homework quizzes.

Retake Policy

Students are able to retake assessments in my class as long as they meet the following criteria:

Once these criteria have been met, students may retake the assessment for an updated grade.
