Worldwide, some countries have garbage systems but some don't and even though countries have a garbage system, there is still a lot of trash being thrown on the street. Plastic pollution is a gigantic problem that should be talked about more. Imagine if you were living in the ocean, the ocean was your home. How would you feel if you couldn't even be free in your house as plastic is taking over. It's been shown that if we keep on doing what we are doing, in 25 years, there's going to be more plastic in the ocean than fish. This isn't fair for marine life, they don't have voices that could tell us how they feel but if they did there wouldn't be happy. We need to stand up for them, to be a voice. As this is our life too, and we only live once. Would you want your only life to not be able to go in the sea as it is filled with plastic?
How do our actions on land, affect what happens out at sea?
How do our actions affect the sea? Well, we'll tell you. When you throw out a plastic water bottle, that you got from the supermarket or a vending machine, do you always put it in the trash? If you don't it travels into the local water source, for us the Naviglio, when the plastic is in the water. It gets swept into the sea by a drift. Plastic doesn't just go away it stays there for a few 1000 years. As more people litter, the plastic accumulates. More than 2 million square meters of the pacific ocean are accumulated with plastic.
