Learning Intention:
Students will explore what they already know and believe about computers.
Success Criteria:
The student will be able to identify one artifact that is a computer and explain why it is a computer and how it works.
Vocabulary:
computer science - using the power of computers to solve problems and express ourselves
Activity:
Show me your ideas of what you think a computer is by drawing them onto the artifact placemat. I want to know what you think. Draw any ideas that come to mind, that you think might be considered a computer.
Group Share:
Let's make a list of all the ideas you drew. Each one of you is going to share an idea, and I am going to list it on the board. We are going to see what all we come up with.
Discuss:
Now we are going to think about our ideas and ask two questions:
Why do you think it is a computer?
How does it work?
