Learning Intention:
Students will understand the four main functions of a computer (input, output, processing, and storage) by participating in role based group activities interacting as real computer parts.
Success Criteria:
The Student will identify the four functions of a computer.
The Student will be able to associate the functions of a computer with real computer parts and explain how a computer process information.
Engage:
Who can tell me the four things that all computers do?

Activity:
In groups have students perform tasks as a computer. Each student in the group will have an assigned function. Students will need to show the class how the computer (group) will complete the task from start to finish. They will need to use props to explain how the computer will take in the data, process the data, store the data, and then output the data.
Example:
Task: "The Computer needs to add 3 + 2"
Input - Uses a keyboard to type 3 + 2
Processing - Processes the data by writing 5 on a paper.
Storage - Saves the answer in RAM by taking the written number 5 and putting it in a "Saved Data" Folder.
Output - Shows - the answer - 5 - on a Monitor - Writes a 5 on a Laminated paper Monitor.
