I started my business as Nick Ilott Photography but today I also work under the moniker Concrete State. I’m an alumni of St.Joseph’s College and left in 1994 after 6 years as a boarder. I have very fond memories of my time at St.Jo’s and it definitely helped to shape me into who I am today!
I discovered photography not long after leaving school but it was another ten years before I turned my hobby into my profession. I started out mainly as an event and wedding photographer but knew early on that this was going to be a springboard to explore other genres. Today I still take on certain events and enjoy them but have split my business in two with the second part aimed at photographing fashion and exploring more creative work. To avoid any confusion and to keep them as separate entities, Concrete State was born and has become the brand name I use for my fashion work.
Sometimes I work on location but these days a significant amount of my time is spent at my studio either shooting or editing. My studio is in Suffolk within a creative arts centre called Old Jet. It’s located on an old air base and is a constant source of inspiration and is very useful for location shoots.
The work I have submitted for the festival is all from my most recent shoot with an amazing designer called Lydia Cooper. Please have a look at my websites to find out more about what I do and feel free to get in touch regarding commissions.
