Owen Faulkner – Orpheus Back on the Overworld: A Comparison Between Two Similar Figures
Sponsor: Mrs. Culver
This was a passion project. Beginning as a quickwrite assignment for my Quarter 3 AP Literature portfolio, this topic of relating song artist, John Mayer, and Greek hero, Orpheus, was originally toyed with on a few pages of paper. However, with ample time over spring break, it turned into a "60 Minutes" style mini-documentary filmed with a green-screen and edited on DaVinci Resolve 17 (something completely new I had to learn to use) that discusses the striking relationship between the two figures and questioning Mayer's rise to popularity. In total—writing the original essay as well as filming and editing—this project consumed around 22-24 hours. In short, more time then I expected. And yet, I had plenty of fun doing this and got to learn many things, including how to use the software, DaVinci Resolve 17.
Sam Adkins – My Work as a High School Artist + Website
Sponsor: Mr. Culver
My project is a collection the body of artwork I have made throughout my last three years at St. Joseph presented on both a website and video presentation. With each piece I present, I discuss the specific materials I used and my process. Together they demonstrate my growth as an artist and member of the St. Joseph community.
Owen Faulkner – Mark Strand Screencast
Sponsor: Mrs. Culver
This is a short lesson on the background and prominent style of the contemporary poet, Mark Strand. Originally as a presentation for my AP Literature class, I integrated this work into a video for easier viewing. The slides along with the video took around 8 hours to complete in total. Hope you enjoy.
