Dear Parents,

It is so amazing to see how your children have grown spiritually, academically and socially this year.

The skills that were reviewed in Reading class were long I, context clues, verbs see/saw, characters, clues, high frequency words and comprehension questions.

In Really Great Reading class long e/a vowel teams, oo and Heart words were pretty, away, after, think and going.

Our Mother’s Day Tea will be on Friday, May 7th at 1:00-1:30. Please put the date on your calendar.

I would like for the students to continue to bring 6 or 7 books to read during their free time in class.

Please continue to check your child’s spelling and math homework on a regular basis.

I would like for the students to read “Koko and Penny” and “Save our Bees” this weekend.

The first graders “State Reports” are due on Friday, April 30th.

I would like for the students to bring an item that they enjoy playing with outside on a beautiful spring day.

Dear Parents,

The first graders are off to a great start to fourth quarter.

The skills that were reviewed in Reading class were long o open syllables, go/do, main idea, high-frequency words and comprehension questions.

The skills that were reviewed in Really Great Reading class were two syllable v-c-e words, r-controlled vowels and Heart Words good, around, know, too and every.

I would like for the students to bring something related to spring for “Share and Tell” on Friday.

Please have your children read “Hi! Fly Guy” and “Meet the Insects” this weekend.

If you have not signed up for conferences, please do so by tomorrow.

Dear Parents,

The students and I cannot believe it will be fourth quarter on Monday. The first graders will have 10 spelling words and they need to write 4 sentences. The skills that were reviewed in Reading class were the long e, prefixes re, in, pre, context clues, comprehension questions and high-frequency words. The skills that were reviewed in Really Great Reading class were Vowel-Consonant-e, r-controlled vowel /er/ and the Heart Words little, ask, long and very.


Please continue to have your children read each night, review math facts, time by the hour/half hour and counting dimes, nickels and pennies.


Books orders are due.

Please have your children read “Vulture View” and “When It’s Snows” this weekend.

Dear Parents,

Wow! Each day the first graders are growing spiritually, academically and socially in the classroom.

They have enjoyed the beautiful weather at recess.

The skills that were reviewed in Reading class were long a, alphabetical order, was/were, story map high-frequency words and comprehension question.

Please continue to have your children bring 6 or 17 books each week.

I will be send home an order form tomorrow. The book orders are due on Thursday, March 11th.

The students will be sharing their favorite Dr. Seuss book for “Share and Tell”.

We will not have school on Friday, March 12th. The teachers will have professional development training.

I would like for the students “Animal Teams” and “Busy As a Bee” this weekend. Please have your children practice counting with dimes, nickels and pennies.
