Students are going to use the next week (3/3/23-3/10/23) to read an independent reading book.  The rules included not choosing a graphic novel or anything in the non-fiction genre.

Students are going to be working to identify the following things within their book:

• Theme of the novel (lesson) and a quote that supports that theme.

• Symbol in the novel and what it represents.

• Brief summary of the book with no spoilers

• One main character and 3 characteristics/adjectives to describe the character

• Setting, including year/time period, location, mood, and any event that might also impact the setting

• Conflict of the story

Informal Assessments: 

• Nightly post-it note assignments that are given on Google Classroom

• Google Classroom questions

• Informal conversations with Mrs. Doenges about your reading

• CommonLit assignments that will help with skills listed above
