This is our first unit of the year! It is a way to get students into reading again by also making them focus on their past reading life and what goals they want in the future.
Each night the students have different homework assignments to help them get back into reading. These assignments are completed in their notebook (digital or on paper).
The students are given a worksheet each night so they are doing things with their reading. Each night, the students should be reading more at home. Our goal is to finish 1 full book within the first 2 weeks of school.
Students will be provided with notes for the class period to review different topics. I will review these teaching points and notes before sending students off to their independent work time.
The end goal is a one-pager about their realistic fiction novel.
