I pledge my honor that I have abided by the Stevens Honor System
The main goal of any engineer is to find and solve a problem whether it be large or small. This, however, can become a challenge if the proper approach is not made. Simply throwing ones self at an issue will not guarantee a solution, especially not a solution that is efficient and long lasting. An engineer needs to focus him/herself on a specific problem that is narrowed down to a plausible extent. A general rule of thumb is that one person isn't going to solve every problem all at once, it's just not possible. It's better to take a moment and assess all the current information in order to form a proper problem statement that will leave the engineer, as well as his bosses, happy.
