ATTENTION: Side-loading custom software onto your Meta Quest 2 headset requires the device to be in DEVELOPER MODE. For instructions on enabling Developer Mode on your headset, go here.
Download and install the Sidequest software on your PC or Mac via the following website. We recommend installing the ADVANCED INSTALLER.
Plug the headset to your PC via a supported USB-C cable.
When you plug in the VR headset to your PC or Mac, there will be a prompt in the headset to allow access to and from the PC. Enable that access from inside the headset, being sure not to unplug the USB-C cable from either the headset or the computer. You may beed to restart the SideQuest software after allowing access as it sometimes doesn't recognize the headset immediately after granting access.
In the SideQuest software, you're looking for the red circle in the top left to turn green. This means the software sees the headset and is ready to transfer data back and forth.
Click on the INSTALL button on the top right of the SideQuest window (square icon with an arrow pointed down).
Navigate to where the XR content is stored on your computer. Typically, these will be .APK files.
Select any number of the files you wish to install and click the OPEN button.
The install process will take a few moments to complete. You can view their progress via the SideQuest task view. When all items are green, everything is installed and you can disconnect the USB cable from the headset and/or computer.
Any apps installed via SideQuest can be found in the 'Unknown Sources' category in the app window. Select the app button, then click on the drop down menu in the top right of the app window, then select 'Unknown Sources' at the bottom of that menu. Your content should appear in the window below.
