ManageXR is a platform that helps you manage both the AR and VR devices in your organization and the content that gets deployed to those devices. Its a tool that gives you considerable control over a large XR ecosystem. With that level of control comes inevitable complication. In order to keep things as clear and understandable as possible for beginners, this guide will give you an overview of ManageXR's functionality and drill deeper only on the most widely used tools. Links to resources that cover every part of this tool are provided for when you're ready to begin exploring more advanced functionality.
At its most basic level, ManageXR is a tool that helps you put content on devices. More specifically, it gives you the ability to deploy content anytime to any number of devices without requiring ongoing physical access to those devices. Furthermore, ManageXR gives you the ability to manage user restrictions, track the physical location, remotely launch and factory reset devices.
In this guide, we will use certain terminology that may seem confusing at first. To give you some clarity on how these terms are used, we've provided a list of the most common terms and their meaning as it pertains to ManageXR.
Configuration: A preset collection of content that is organized for easy deployment as a package. Configurations can be created, curated, and assigned to any number of devices.
Content: Any digital material intended to be consumed on a device. This will usually refer to VR content on VR headsets, but can also reference video, photos, and other supported types.
Database: The entire registered collection of devices on your ManageXR account. This database can be added to, searched, navigated, and organized.
Device: Any hardware that is registered to the ManageXR database. This will usually refer to VR headsets (Meta Quest 2), but can reference other types of hardware as well.
Kiosk Mode: A state that a device can be set to that restricts the user experience with that device to only the content that is allowed. Kiosk Mode can prevent the user from accessing most system features and all content not specifically permitted.
Managed App: Content that is added to ManageXR that can be managed in terms of the app name, version control, app description, and how it appears on the device in Kiosk Mode.
Tag: A label that can be created for the sole purpose of organizing devices in the database. Tags can be created, edited, removed, and assigned to devices anytime.
