Competencies

Colorado’s Competencies for Early Childhood Educators and Professionals are based on a revised framework of three levels of competence. The levels include the basic knowledge and skills needed to enter the field. The levels also consider the knowledge and skills needed to progress to advanced levels of mastery through academic coursework and a wide range of experiences.

These competencies are designed to complement the Colorado’s Competencies for Early Childhood Educators and Administrators. They focus on the additional competencies that trainers need to design and deliver effective trainings.

The Colorado Competencies for Early Childhood Coaches are designed to serve as the key guide to coaching as a professional discipline and adult learning strategy within Colorado’s early childhood field.

Healthy Child Care Colorado’s mission is to build safe, supportive, and healthy early childhood settings and systems where children and professionals learn and grow. Since 2001, we have served as the statewide hub for child care health consultation by offering ongoing support, training, and resources for those medical professionals working to support early childhood programs. We work on the local, state, and national levels to strengthen awareness and support for this unique and critical role.
