REHABILITATING WILDLIFE
AWARE – Association for Wild Animal Rehabilitation and Education, will be offering classes for those interested in preparing for the NYS DEC Wildlife Rehabilitator License exam and/or volunteering with AWARE. Included will be a binder with the information that will be covered in the classes, and some hands-on practice. Part I : February 14, 2026, and February 21, 2026 (Saturdays) 10:00 AM – 1:00 PM. This session is focused on beginning rehabilitation of wild mammals. Included will be; NYS DEC licensing applications, testing, legal issues, safety in handling, capture techniques, and transporting, as well as dealing with the public. Mammal anatomy, care of orphaned mammals, common diseases and injuries in mammals, treatment, caging and release. Information on special licensing for rabies vector species (RVS) and deer will also be introduced. Part II : March 7, March 14, and March 21, 2026 (Saturdays) 10:00 AM – 1:00 PM. This session specifically focuses on the rehabilitation of birds. Included in this session are; applying for USF&W permits, and legal issues, species identification, handling and safety of specific species, bird anatomy and physiology. Care of orphaned birds, bandaging, treatment techniques, diseases, housing, caging, pre-release conditioning and release. There will be live birds brought in for you to meet part of our staff. The classes will be held at Starpoint Central School, 4363 Mapleton Rd., Lockport, NY. Registration will be through Starpoint Community Ed. Upon completion of the classes, you will receive a certificate that will give you 15 hours of training to be used towards your application for a NYS DEC License and USF&W Permit.

4-HOUR ACT BOOT CAMP
Get a jump start on your ACT test preparation! The ACT is offered as both a computer-based and as a written test. If you are planning to study any STEM program in college then the ACT test is for you! This comprehensive review course introduces students to the ACT test and includes classroom instruction, test-taking strategies, practice activities, testing information & study materials.

4-HOUR SAT BOOT CAMP
The Digital SAT test is here! The Digital SAT test is computer-based only, shorter test taking time, shorter reading and math questions, and longer time allotted to answer the test questions. These changes are intended to help students succeed but it is NOT an easier test. Preparation is essential. This comprehensive course introduces students to the Digital SAT test with emphasis on testtaking strategies, testing information, how to best prepare for the SAT test, practice questions in each subject and a complete review of what to expect on the digital test. The course includes classroom instruction/practice, and workbook/study materials.

Dedicated to nurturing your child’s creative and critical thinking as we work with Legos. ADULT, CHILD & INFANT CPR/AED TRAINING
Gives individuals the knowledge and skills necessary to recognize and provide basic care for breathing, cardiac emergencies, injuries and sudden illnesses, including how to use an automated external defibrillator (AED) for victims of sudden cardiac arrest, until advanced medical personnel arrive and take over. Students who complete the program will receive a text and 2 year certification card.

BABYSITTER’S TRAINING
This 3 hour course teaches interviewing skills; basic care to include holding infants, bottle-feeding, spoon-feeding and diapering; safety lessons; including activities that teach how to make decisions keeping safety the number one consideration; safe play which gives tips on what toys are appropriate for different age groups keeping safety and the child’s abilities and interest in mind; first aid, which offers hands-on training in care for conscious choking, how to check an unconscious child, calling 911 and bleeding control; and temptation and responsibility showing that decisions have to be based on the safety of the children and the babysitter at all times, even if tempted to do otherwise. This class is for students 11-15 years of age.

SPANISH FOR THE ELEMENTARY YEARS (K-5)
