Our School Farm: Nature's Classroom

Hidden within our campus is a magical space where learning comes naturally - our School Farm.

What Makes It Special?

🌿 Bamboo forest setting: A variety of bamboo species creates a peaceful, natural environment
🦆 Animal family: Miniature goats, ducks, and a giant tortoise who teach children about care and responsibility
🔨 Forest School programme: Hands-on learning using real tools and natural materials
🐛 Wild exploration: Digging for worms, pond dipping, and discovering miniature beasts
🌱 Outdoor classroom: Where mud, mess, and curiosity lead to the best learning.

What Children Learn:

Through our Forest School approach, students develop practical skills, environmental awareness, resilience, and independence. They learn to use tools safely, care for animals responsibly, and explore the natural world with confidence and curiosity.

The Best Part?

Getting muddy! Whether they're digging in the soil, splashing in puddles, or carefully pond-dipping for aquatic creatures, children are fully engaged in hands-on, joyful learning that builds their connection with nature.

Our School Farm provides experiences that simply can't be replicated in a traditional classroom - and the excitement on children's faces says it all!

Samakee Sleepover & Off Script Friday!

What a memorable night at Samakee! Our students enjoyed a special overnight stay at school, spending time together with friends and trusted staff while building confidence, independence and wonderful memories.

The fun continued the next day with Off Script Friday! From sleepover adventures to a day filled with laughter, creativity and fun, it was the perfect way to finish the week and make even more unforgettable memories together!

Stay Safe Update: Apps, Games & Social Media

This week's focus: Understanding age limits and popular platforms

✓ Age limits exist for a reason: Most social media platforms have a minimum age of 13 (WhatsApp, Instagram, TikTok, Snapchat, Facebook). These aren't arbitrary – they're based on child development and safety.

✓ Popular with ages 10-14: TikTok, Snapchat, Instagram, Roblox, Minecraft, Fortnite. Do you know which one your child is using?

✓ Gaming safety: Many games have chat functions and in-game purchases. Check settings to disable or restrict these features for younger players.

✓ Action for parents: Have a conversation with your child this week about which apps and games they're using. Check them together and discuss any concerns.

ID Card Reminder: Please use only your own ID card to enter school. Parents must not use children's cards and vice versa. Wear cards visibly on campus. This is essential for security and emergency response. Thank you for your support!

Teaching and Learning Highlights!

Making a Splash in Water World!

Our children have been having a fantastic time in Water World, getting stuck into hands-on water play and discovering all the different ways they can use water. From filling and pouring with measuring jugs and cups, to squeezing sponges, splashing and experimenting with different water toys, the children have been developing their coordination, problem-solving and sensory skills through play.

The fun didn't stop there! The children took their vessels around the playground to water our plants and trees, showing care for the natural world and taking pride in looking after their environment. They have been demonstrating what it means to be a Samakeeasaurus, helping to make our school a happy, positive and welcoming place for everyone!

Celebrating Our Samakeesauruses!

In EYFS, we use our Learning Dinosaurs to help children recognise and understand the Characteristics of Effective Learning through fun and memorable characters.

Did you know our Samakeesaurus is a kind and caring dinosaur who knows how to take turns, share and be kind to everyone?

Over the last few weeks, we’ve been celebrating all the wonderful Samakeesauruses in our school. Take a look at some of the ways we show kindness, caring and friendship every day!

A Blooming Collaborative Art Project!

Over the past few weeks, students from Years 3 to 9 have come together to create a spectacular, vibrant collaborative art piece centered around the theme of flowers. Each year group took on a unique artistic challenge, exploring a diverse range of foundational skills and historical movements, from the hyper-pop, smiling characters of Takashi Murakami to the iconic, bold screen-prints of Andy Warhol, with Year 7 even having a go at wet felting. Every single student poured their energy and imagination into the project, meticulously refining their techniques to produce their own individual contribution.

History: Europe’s House of Cards!

Our Year 7 historians are tackling a big question: How far did WW1 change the world? To make sense of complex 1914 European alliances, students turned Europe into the ultimate House of Cards! By imagining countries as roommates with secret pacts and bitter grudges, they decoded how Europe spiralled into world war in 1914!

Dinner table challenge for tonight: Ask your Year 7 historian who was Gerald or Austin and why the 'house' layout had to be completely re-designed in 1919!
