Many people think they are the bad guys. But some videogames can be really good for you.Video games can affect people in many ways. They have benefits, they can be linked with mental health disorder and have negative aspects like depression. You should always pay attention when your kids are playing video games for a long time because they can have depression symptoms. But video games are not only villains they can affect people in many different ways.
It is interesting to see that everyone thinks that video games only have negative effects, however they never think about the benefits of video games. One thing that we can see is that video games can change the human brain physically. According to Sutter health “Playing video games changes the brain’s physical structure, similar to the way the brain changes when a person learns to play the piano or read a map”. Most people don't know that video games can help people with socializing problems because when they play some people make friends and get good at socializing. Based on what Charlie Health said “Even though teens may not be socializing with someone physically in the same room, they can chat with other players and work together as they play”. Something that really calls people's attention is how brain training apps safeguard people from memory loss because when you play a lot of video game you start forgetting about things. As MedicalNewsToday is claiming "People are increasingly under the impression that brain-training apps will safeguard them against memory loss or cognitive disorders”. The kids need to play less time than what they are playing. For the video games to give benefits people need to play only one hour. As stated by Child Mind Institute "For kids over the age of 6, the American Academy of Paediatrics says no more than 60 minutes on school days and 2 hours on non-school days”.
It is interesting to know that there are benefits of video games but there are also negative aspects of video games. One thing that people would like to know is the negative aspects of video games in people's mental health and how the human being is affected because when they hear about the benefits they might think that there is nothing bad . In the opinion of Charlie Health "In recent years, video games have been under scrutiny for potentially worsening gamers’ mental health, and video game “addiction” has become a big concern”. Parents don't want their kids to have bad sleep so they really want to know how playing video games for a lot of hours can give you bad sleep because if they spend to much time playing they will be focused and will lose their whole sleep .According to Charlie Health “Many teens and young adults engage in long late-night gaming sessions, which can disrupt their sleep patterns, leading to less quality sleep” One important thing to remember is that video games can affect people's social lives because it can cause anxiety and can also make the kids bad at socializing. Based on what Charlie health said “If young people spend more time gaming than engaging in face-to-face interactions, this can fuel social anxiety and cause them to feel more comfortable playing video games rather than socializing in person”.
Video games have many negative aspects, one of them is depression. Many parents stay sad when their kids play video games because they know that video games can cause isolation and that if they don't get out and play with people the kid won't have many friends. As Charlie Health is claiming “According to one study, young people who played more than two hours of violent games every day had more depression symptoms than those who played non-violent games”.People found evidence of symptoms of depression and in violent video games. In the words of Charlie Health “Furthermore, researchers have found some evidence between depression and violent video games”.Many people would like to know how people that play violent video games have more depressive symptoms than people that play non violent video games because some parents let their kids play violent video games but they would like to know why so they can do what is best for their kid .According to Charlie Health “According to one study, young people who played more than two hours of violent games every day had more depression symptoms than those who played non-violent games”.
It is important to remember that videogames not only have negative effects but they actually also have benefits. We think it is important to know because then you can prepare yourself from problems and you can profit from the benefits of video games. All of us should think that videogames are not villains and not even heroes because video games help but they also harm us. As stated by Sutter Health "The combination of concentration and neurotransmitter surges when playing games helps to strengthen neural circuits, giving the brain a real workout”.
