1) POSSESSION

    • The boy’s toy means the one toy belonging to the one boy.
    • The boy’s toys means that one boy has a number of toys.
    • The boys’ toys means the many toys belonging to the many boys.

WHERE TO PUT THE APOSTROPHE INDICATING POSSESSION

    • Add ‘S for all singular nouns
    • Add ‘S for all plural nouns ending in S.
    • Add for all plural nouns ending in S.

The “DO NOT BUZZ” rule states that you must not add an s if it makes you buzz...

E.g.

    • Jesus’ NOT Jesus’s;
    • Moses’ NOT Moses’s;
    • Croesus’ NOT Croesus’s

2) OMISSION
